Walker Bay Radio Flyers is a friendly RC flying club located near Hermanus in the Overberg, Western Cape. Our members share a passion for radio control aircraft, including fixed-wing aeroplanes, gliders, electric models, petrol-powered aircraft and helicopters. Whether you’re an experienced pilot or completely new to the hobby, you’ll find a welcoming community dedicated to safe, enjoyable and responsible model flying.
Our flying field provides an excellent environment for radio-controlled model aircraft enthusiasts to enjoy the hobby throughout the year. As a RCASA-affiliated RC club, we operate under recognised safety standards and promote responsible flying for members and visitors alike.
The club welcomes pilots of all skill levels, from beginners learning to fly their first trainer aircraft to experienced builders and competition pilots. Members enjoy well-maintained facilities, regular flying days and a relaxed social atmosphere where knowledge and experience are shared freely.

Walker Bay Radio Flyers offers members access to two dedicated radio control flying fields in the beautiful Overberg region of the Western Cape. Our primary flying site, located on the R43 near Hermanus called Botrivier, features a sealed 100-metre runway with generous run-off areas, a shaded pits area and ample space for safe operation of radio-controlled aircraft. The club also has access to a second flying field near Karwyderskraal, providing additional flying opportunities for members with electric craft. Whether you fly electric models, large petrol-powered aircraft, gliders or helicopters, our well-maintained facilities provide an excellent environment for year-round RC flying. As an approved Aviation Recreation Organisation (ARO) club, our flying sites operate to recognised South African aviation safety standards, offering a safe and welcoming environment for both experienced pilots and newcomers to the hobby. Visitors are always welcome by prior arrangement.
